Heavy machinery & equipment
Port Fourchon, LA - Houston, TX
Challenge:
Low-clearance transport constraints
Moving oversized subsea equipment out of Port Fourchon meant dealing with the realities of South Louisiana infrastructure. The region is known for low bridge clearances, overhead utility lines, and narrow two-lane roads that leave little margin for error. With a tall, heavy module on the trailer, even small clearance issues could stop the move or force costly rerouting. In addition, the load had to transition from port facilities onto public roadways not designed for oversized offshore equipment. That required careful planning to avoid clearance conflicts while keeping the equipment stable and protected throughout the move.
Solution:
Custom routing and assisted clearance
Southern Executive Transport planned the move using a lowboy trailer to keep overall height as low as possible. The team mapped routes specifically to avoid known low-clearance bridges and tight road sections common in South Louisiana. Proper weight distribution and DOT-compliant chains and binders were used to maintain stability from departure through delivery. By combining detailed route planning with hands-on subsea and offshore transport experience, SET moved the equipment safely from Port Fourchon to Houston
